New Year’s Resolution: Give Back

Now that January if officially over…how are you doing with your 2019 New Year’s Resolutions? Well if one of your resolutions was to give back to your community, Con Mi MADRE has plenty of options for you to donate your time and talent to the mission we serve.

According to an article in Thrillist Austin, Con Mi MADRE is a great organization to encourage, inspire, and educate young women and of course, we couldn’t agree more!

But don’t take our word for it! See what our 2018 spring volunteer, Maria, had to say about her experience volunteering with Con Mi MADRE.

Maria, CMM Spring 2018 Volunteer

“I became interested in volunteering with Con Mi MADRE when I saw the work the organization had done to promote higher education in the Latina community.

I appreciated the approach taken to involve families in the process and starting early in the girls’ life (I personally believe this is the best way to do it).

I came in wanting to learn more about how non-profit organizations work and I took away a well-rounded idea of the detail that goes into having a successful organization.

I found that CMM was also a great way for me to give back to my community because I was able to see the contribution of my work.

Additionally, I saw how everyone who I worked with was genuinely interested in making a difference for the girls and their families.

Giving back to the community is important to me, because it’s my way of showing gratitude for what I have, and I’m a believer in progressing as a community along with personal achievement.”

Maria did such an excellent job helping the organization with office tasks, making phone calls to our families, and working in our Operations Department. Thanks to Maria and many others like her, Con Mi MADRE is able to serve it’s over 900 mother-daughter teams in the Central Texas area at no cost to the participants.

If you’re interested in making an impact and accomplishing those New Year’s goals check out the opportunities we have for our volunteers below!
